After watching Chris demonstrate what the poem, “Let the Piper Call the Tune” is supposed to sound like and I realize that the beat when I did the poem seemed to be correct but I did not do so well on the ‘Ti and Ta.” When there is one sound and one beat you use a “ta” and when you have two sounds on one beat you use “ti-ti.”  Four beats per line.
For example:
Let the piper   call the tune
Ti-Ti   Ti-Ti   Ti-Ti    Ta
Call  the Tune    Call the tune
Ti-Ti      Ti-Ti   Ta    Ti-Ti   Ti- Ti     Ta
The nervous laughter was a problem and not being sure that I was doing this correctly was another problem.

I understand this lesson not only just for the instructor to find out if his method of teaching is working but as a student and a soon to be educator I need to be reflecting on my own work, not to find the error so much, as to learn from the error.  The benefits of learning from my error will out way the error itself and I am fully capable of learning and so are the students that I will be teaching one day.

  1. Linda,
I did the same poem as you, and I had the exact same problem: my "tas" and "tis". I like how you added that this lesson is not only for the instructor to find out if his method of teaching is working but that the student needs to reflect their own work. Great job!
