assignment 11

Orff-Schulwerk, Kodaly, Dalcroze all have unique ways of incorporating music instruction.

Orff Schulwerk video
Small children being creative, discovering, learning through music.
Learning to make music through what they already know and adding to what has already been learned.  The child creates movement to music.
Kodaly video
The children while learning are more instructed on the music although they had hand movement.  I feel that this is more beneficial to older children.  The children participate through hand gesture and singing the so-mi do-re-mi-so-la.
Dalcroze video
The music inspires what movements that the children will make, in other words they move to the rhythm.  The children plays games through the music, ascending and descending with the music, and learning measurements.
All of these approaches help children learn music through movement but Orff and Dalcroze use their bodies more to tell the story with music.  The Kodaly is more for older students in the aspects of notes and learning how to put their voices to the music. Depending on the childs experience with music I would for younger children probably use Orff and Dalcroze the most and then start inputting the methods of Kodaly.  Each of these methods allowed the children to participate and be apart of the music and make the music apart of them.  Through the body movements not only can they hear the music but they can act out how they feel or the movement of rhythm with the music.
